What is internal marketing and communication?

Internal marketing and communication are the promotion of a department or division, its goals, updates, and important announcements to its own employees and to the university community. The purpose is to increase Information Technology Services brand understanding, brand alignment, and help IT staff and the campus community feel more engaged with the ITS organization.
What is the difference between internal marketing and internal communication?

Internal communication: Methods and practices used within the IT department to share information, news, and updates with employees, ensuring they are informed and working together towards common objectives. Boost engagement and motivation by aligning IT staff values with those of the IT department and build a positive work culture.

Internal marketing: Uses marketing principles to promote an IT department’s values, culture, and brand identity to the entire campus community. Address undesirable perceptions and expectations by promoting and enhancing the IT department’s reputation as a desirable, approachable and collaborative organization.
